Diageo plc have declared interim dividend increased by 5% to 40.50 cents per share
Diageo plc have declared an interim dividend of 40.50 cents per share will be paid to holders of ordinary shares and US ADRs on register as of 1 March 2024. The ex-dividend date is 29 February 2024. This represents an increase of 5% on last year's interim dividend. The interim dividend will be paid to holders of ordinary shares and US ADRs on 17 April 2024. Holders of ordinary shares will receive their dividends in sterling unless they elect to receive their dividends in US dollars by 15 March 2024. The dividend per share in pence to be paid to ordinary shareholders will be announced approximately two weeks prior to the payment date and will be determined by the actual foreign exchange rates achieved by Diageo buying forward contracts, entered into during the three days preceding the announcement. A dividend reinvestment plan is available to holders of ordinary shares in respect of the interim dividend and the plan notice date is 15 March 2024.

The decision in respect of the dividend is made with reference to the dividend cover as well as current performance trends, including sales and profit after tax together with cash generation. Diageo targets dividend cover (the ratio of basic earnings per share before exceptional items to dividend per share) within the range of 1.8-2.2 times. For the year ended 30 June 2022, dividend cover was 2.0 times. The group will keep future returns of capital, including dividends, under review through the year ending 30 June 2023 to ensure Diageo's capital is allocated in the best way to maximise value for the business and stakeholders.
Diageo Plc announces a final dividend of 46.82 pence per share
A final dividend of 46.82 pence per share was recommended by Diageo Plc on 27 July 2022 for approval by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting scheduled to be held on 6 October 2022 bringing the full year dividend to 76.18 pence per share for the year ended 30 June 2022. The ex-dividend date both for holders of ordinary shares and for US ADR holders is 25 August 2022. The final dividend, once approved by shareholders, will be paid to holders of ordinary shares on 20 October 2022 and payment to US ADR holders will be made on 25 October 2022.

Diageo PLC aims to increase their dividend each year and the decision in respect of the dividend is made with reference to dividend cover as well as current performance trends including sales and profit after tax together with cash generation. Diageo targets dividend cover (the ratio of basic earnings per share before exceptional items to dividend per share) within the range of 1.8-2.2 times. For the year ended 30 June 2021 dividend cover was 1.6 times. It is expected that dividend increases will be maintained at roughly a mid-single digit rate as they look to build dividend cover and operate comfortably within the policy range.

For the year ended 30 June 2021 dividend cover is 1.6 times. The recommended final dividend for the year ended 30 June 2021, to be put to the shareholders for approval at the Annual General Meeting is 44.59 pence, an increase of 5% on the prior year final dividend. This brings the full year dividend to 72.55 pence per share, an increase of 4% on the prior year. They will keep future returns of capital, including dividends, under review through year ending 30 June 2022 to ensure they allocate Diageo's capital in the best way to maximize value for the business and their stakeholders.

An interim dividend of 27.41 pence per share will be paid to holders of ordinary shares and ADRs on the register as of 28 February 2020. The ex-dividend date is 27 February 2020. This represents an increase of 5% on last year's interim dividend. The interim dividend will be paid to ordinary shareholders on 9 April 2020. Payment to US ADR holders will be made on 14 April 2020.
