DividendMax Model Portfolio 2017
The model portfolio rose by 14.1% in 2016 slightly below the 15% increase posted by the FTSE 350. The biggest performers were Ashtead, BHP, BP and Rio Tinto. The laggards were Easyjet, Next and TalkTalk.
This year we are going to produce our usual balanced portfolio, but whereas last year we leaned towards natural resources, which turned out to be correct; this year we are going overweight in the housebuilders based upon their low valuations, high yields, strong balance sheets and a very accomodating interest rate environment.
