Visa is a global payments company which executes fund transfers through their branded debit and credit cards. It's estimated Visa carries approximately 38% of credit and 61% of debit card transactions in the United States.
The VisaNet carries an estimated 100 billion transactions annually through every region in the world, worth in excess of 5 trillion dollars.
They have a spectacular record for increasing dividend payments since 2007, growing from nothing to between 19% and 110% per year since. They have a very high dividend cover to support this.
January 28, 2015, Visa’s board of directors declared a four-for-one split of its class A common stock. On March 18, 2015, each class A common stockholder of record at the close of business on February 13, 2015 (the “Record Date”), will receive a dividend of three additional shares for every share held on the Record Date. Possible effects of the tax treatment of dividends from April 2016
The Telegraph online declared ‘Budget 2015 – Investors face tax raid on dividends’. Whilst this is true for those with large income portfolios, not everybody loses out and in fact those who do not currently invest in stocks and shares, there is now a tax incentive to do so.
