Oracle is a multinational computer software and hardware company. Its business primarily focusses on enterprise database software and through a number of high-profile acquisitions has expanded into CRM and ERP software.

With more than 390,000 customers including 100 of the Fortune 100 and with deployments across a wide variety of industries in more than 145 countries around the globe,  Oracle is the 3rd highest earning software company in the world.

Oracle has a very strong cash position giving it a fantastic dividend cover of 10. It started paying a dividend in 2009 and has consistently increased this since and is projected to continue doing so, however it's yield is not high.

Oracle consistently pay a quarterly dividend in mid-January, April, July and October every year making them a reliable income stream for investors.

NOTE: December 3, 2012: "Oracle accelerates payment of three quarters of dividends. Pays Q2, Q3 and Q4 dividends of fiscal 2013 in December 2012." Pays as one payment of USD 0.18 per share December 21st, 2012 as opposed to expected three quarterly payments of USD 0.06 per share in February, May and August 2013
