Friday Email: 18 September 2026

Every Friday morning our lead analyst Mark Riding sends out his weekly run-down and upcoming events in the investor calendar, like this one:

The FTSE 100 is up 97 points on the week (0.92%). The S&P 500 is flat on the week and the Stoxx 600 is up 0.35%.

The past week has been very busy from a reporting and declaration of dividends perspective.

The spectre of inflation has raised its head again over the past two weeks which has seen interest rate rises in Europe and the U.S. The U.K resisted this time around. It is difficult to see how interest rate rises can curb inflation when the main driver of inflation is the very high oil price.

Going ex dividend this coming Thursday with yields in excess of 3% from the single dividend we have Central Asia Metals (4.8%), City of London Investment Group (4.6%), Pollen Street Group (3.5%) and Alumasc for 3.3%.
