Friday Email: 05 October 2018

Every Friday morning our lead analyst Mark Riding sends out his weekly run-down and upcoming events in the investor calendar, like this one:

The FTSE 100 has fallen approximately 140 points this week in what has been a quiet week for company announcements. Ferguson (formally Wolseley) continues to deliver impressive results and increasing returns to shareholders with  an impressive 21% increase in its full year dividend in dollar terms. (30% in sterling)

The week ahead is also very quiet with only a handful of companies that we cover reporting to the market.

There is plenty of yield on offer from Barratt developments which goes ex-dividend this coming Thursday with 17.9p (3.2%) from its final dividend and 17.3p (3.1%) from its special dividend. Other companies with yields over 2% include City of Lomdon Investment Trust (4.4%), Close Brothers (2.7%), Centrica (2.4%), Begbies Traynor (2.3%) and Manx Telecom for 2.2%.
