
BALFOUR BEATTY JOINT VENTURE AWARDED NETWORK RAIL SIGNALLING FRAMEWORKS
Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group, announces that Signalling Solutions Limited (SSL), its 50/50 joint venture with Alstom, has been successful in the tendering process for the new signalling frameworks on behalf of Network Rail.
SSL has secured involvement in seven of the eight geographical regions covered by Network Rail's seven year "New Signalling Frameworks", worth a total £1.5bn. In three of these regions, Central East, Great Western Inner and Great Western Outer, SSL is primary supplier and in 4 geographical regions, Scotland, Central West, Wales and Western and Kent & Anglia, SSL is secondary supplier.
The company will introduce innovative train control systems and new collaborative methods of working to ensure that the cost reduction measures required to achieve the industry targets agreed by Network Rail with the Office of Rail Regulation are met.
