About Ameren Corp.
Ameren Corporation (Ameren), incorporated on August 7, 1995, is a utility holding company. The Company's primary assets are its equity interests in its subsidiaries, including Ameren Missouri, Ameren Illinois and Ameren Transmission Company (ATXI). The Company operates through four segments: Ameren Missouri, Ameren Illinois Electric Distribution, Ameren Illinois Natural Gas and Ameren Transmission. The Ameren Missouri segment includes all of the operations of Ameren Missouri. The Ameren Illinois Electric Distribution segment consists of the electric distribution business of Ameren Illinois. The Ameren Illinois Natural Gas segment consists of the natural gas business of Ameren Illinois. The ATXI segment is primarily composed of the aggregated electric transmission businesses of Ameren Illinois and ATXI.
Ameren Missouri operates a rate-regulated electric generation, transmission, and distribution business and a rate-regulated natural gas distribution business in Missouri. Ameren Illinois operates rate-regulated electric distribution, electric transmission and natural gas distribution businesses in Illinois. ATXI operates a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) rate-regulated electric transmission business. ATXI is developing Midcontinent Independent System Operator, Inc. (MISO)-approved electric transmission projects, including the Illinois Rivers, Spoon River and Mark Twain projects. As of December 31, 2016, Ameren owns an integrated transmission system that is composed of the transmission assets of Ameren Missouri, Ameren Illinois and ATXI. As of December 31, 2016, Ameren also operated two balancing authority areas: AMMO and AMIL. During the fiscal year ended December 31, 2016, the peak demand was 7,681 megawatts in AMMO and 8,868 megawatts in AMIL. Ameren Missouri owns energy centers that rely on a fuel portfolio, including coal (Ameren Missouri's primary fuel source), nuclear, and natural gas, as well as renewable sources of generation, which include hydroelectric, methane gas and solar.
