About Chesnara plc
Chesnara is in the life insurance sector.
Chesnara plc was formed in 2004 and is a quoted holding company. It was formed to accommodate Countrywide Assured ('CA') on its demerger from Countrywide Assured group plc.
Countrywide Assured plc was established in 1988 as the life assurance division of CAG selling mortgage-related life assurance products through CAG's financial services division. In 1995, CA acquired Premium Life, a life assurance company, and integrated it into its existing operations. In August 2003, CA was substantially closed to new business and now manages its existing book of life assurance policies, personal pensions and long-term care products. The administration of its policies was outsourced to HCL Insurance BPO Services Ltd (a subsidiary of HCL) from 1st February 2005. Most of the policies are either non-linked term assurances, unit-linked endowment policies and guaranteed bonds.

The Chesnara Board has proposed a 2023 final dividend of 15.61p per share (2023 total dividend of 23.97p), which equates to £36.1m and a 3% increase compared to 2022 (£35.0m) and extends the period of uninterrupted dividend growth to 19 years.

Chesnara plc recommends final dividend of 14.7p per share
The Chesnara plc Board has recommended a final dividend of 14.7 pence per share, which is expected to be paid on 24 May 2022. The ordinary shares will be quoted ex-dividend on the London Stock Exchange as of 7 April 2022. The record date for eligibility for payment will be 8 May 2022.
Chesnara PLC announce an interim dividend increased by 3% to 7.88p per share
An interim dividend of 7.88p per share in respect of the year ending 31 December 2021 payable on 22 October 2021 to equity shareholders of the company registered at the close of business on 10 September 2021, the dividend record date, was approved by the Chesnara PLC Directors after the balance sheet date. The resulting dividend of £11.8m has not been provided for in these financial statements and there are no income tax consequences.

During 2019 Chesnara continued to deliver strong cash generation, funding the dividend strategy as well as maintaining a robust group solvency ratio. Economic Value increased significantly as a result of favourable economic conditions, despite the impact of a substantive foreign exchange loss due to currency fluctuations. Prudent financial and operational management has resulted in Chesnara's operations, solvency and dividends all being resilient to the impacts of Covid-19, however the Economic Value will have fallen subsequent to the year end.
Chesnara announce a 3% dividend increase to 7.43p per share
Chesnara have announced their Economic Value at £645.1m, which is 3% higher than at the end of 2018, after payment of the 2018 final dividend of £20.2m, despite the negative impact of a weakening Swedish krona. The results in the period support the continued growth of the dividend to 7.43p per share (2018 interim: 7.21p per share).
Chesnara increases its 2016 interim dividend by 2.9%
Group solvency ratio of 148% (31 December 2015: 146%). After taking account of the interim dividend the Group solvency ratio has improved slightly and subsidiary solvency ratios remain strong and above internal targets, with the UK at 137% (31 December 2015: 135%); Movestic at 154% (31 December 2015: 154%) and Waard Group at 584% (31 December 2015: 597%). We have not used transitional arrangements.
